Are you unsure about how to order natural stone and looking for some guidance as to where to start?
At Cumbrian Stone we always start with three key sizes, the length, width and height of each stone required. Once we have this, we can then work with you to find any details or finishes that need to be applied to the stone by our production team. To help make this easy for our customers, we often supply 3D component template drawings showing the details we require and exactly what is to be made, which significantly reduces the likelihood of any mistakes being made. ... It's been a few years since we first published "Natural Stone - A Buyer's Guide", and the feedback we've had from our customers has been great.
However at Cumbrian Stone we're always working on improving, which is why we're hard at work updating and expanding our 2018 publication with a wealth of additional advice, tips and tricks to make the natural stone industry more accessible to our customers (up from 60 pages to over 170). We're expecting to go to print later this year, and we'll let you know how to get your hands on a copy as soon as they are available. ... See MoreSee Less
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Have you benefited from our new and improved packaging system yet? Every order that goes through our production facility has a packing list that is produced and updated as every stone is cut, and each pallet is clearly labelled with a weather resistant label to show exactly what it contains without the need to split the packaging open, making finding the correct stone once on site far easier for the builder. We also give each stone a unique reference, marked on one of the unseen faces of the unit so that they can be easily identified. Finally, each pallet is individually numbered and the contents are logged on our internal systems so we can also direct you to the correct pallet should a stone be missing. ... See MoreSee Less

Natural stone sometimes has a reputation for being a traditional or old-fashioned building material, however looking at some of the projects we supply we would definitely disagree. We often work with customers looking to put a modern spin on natural stone, and regularly supply stunning commercial projects with a wide variety of natural stone components that keep natural stone at home in the 21st century.
From versatile lightweight cladding systems through to contemporary adaptations of more traditional facades, we are confident that natural stone will continue to feature heavily in modern construction as installation methods and production techniques continue to adapt to meet the demands of the construction industry.
If you have a project where you would like to consider natural stone but aren’t sure whether what you are looking to achieve is possible then why not get in touch to see if our team can help? As a stone supplier based in the Cumbrian Lake District we are spoilt for choice when it comes to the stunning natural stones we have access to, and we are often asked which of our sandstones is the most popular. This really depends on where the stone is being supplied to, however when working locally our Lazonby sandstone is obviously the natural choice for our customers.
Lazonby Quarry is situated just three miles north of our premises in Penrith, Cumbria. Historically Lazonby sandstone was widely used on several high-profile projects before eventually becoming dormant. Lazonby Quarry was then reopened in 2006 due to an increasing demand for the supply of a hard wearing, high quality Cumbrian red sandstone. It now produces an excellent quality raw material for processing at our production facilities in Penrith, and we regularly supply this durable sandstone to developers and private individuals all over the UK. ...
