Customer Notice - 24th March 2020

Following the government advice issued on 23rd March 2020 regarding the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak we have taken the difficult decision to close our offices and production facilities from today until further notice.

Any email enquiries will still be picked up by one for our team remotely during this time and we will endeavour to respond to your enquiry at the earliest opportunity. Please send any enquiries or questions to sam@cumbrianstone.co.uk

Unfortunately this closure means that we are unable to deliver/arrange collection of any outstanding orders until normal trading resumes. We will be in touch with any customers who have outstanding orders to discuss a revised delivery programme as soon as this information is available.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding during these difficult times.

All of us at Cumbrian Stone will be making good use of the extra day this February to rest up and prepare for the start of our 2,500 Mile March this Sunday!

This year our team will be walking a combined total of 5 million steps (2,500 miles) to raise money for Cancer Research UK. We've already seen some incredible support from our customers and we have already raised £600 towards our target before we're even off the staring blocks.

If you'd like to support us this March you can donate to Cancer Research UK via our fundraising page at fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/cumbrian-stone-2500-mile-march

Today we've been busy applying a sandblasted finish to our sandstones for a number of projects, including the St Bees sandstone ashlar and feature stones for the widening of Tanton Bridge in North Yorkshire. It's great to see a Cumbrian Sandstone being used to enhance this grade 2 listed structure and we're looking forward to seeing the finished result! #cumbrianstone ... See MoreSee Less

Once a stone has been cut to size (Secondary Sawing) it may require further cutting and carving to produce the finished stone component. One of the options we use for finishing stone units is CNC Profiling. This involves the building of a 3D model of each finished stone and the creation of a set of instructions for the 5-Axis CNC saw to follow. Once programmed these saws will run automatically, changing the tools and self-calibrating to produce the finished unit. ... See MoreSee Less

Have you ever wondered how we go from a 15 Ton sandstone block to a finished product? The first step for our team is Primary Sawing, where these blocks are cut into slabs (sawn 2 sides) using a diamond wire saw, monobalde saw or circular bridge saw. These slabs are then polished before moving on to the next stage in the production process... ... See MoreSee Less

That’s really interesting - It’s also really nice when they use the actual worker in the video, and not one of the ‘managers’ dressed as a worker. 👍
