Repair and restoration work is something we always enjoy, and over the last couple of weeks our masons have been hard at work hand carving these beautiful replacement tracery window stones for a restoration project in Kendal. As the full window doesn't need replaced, each section had to be carefully measured and set out to fit with remaining window stones. We're sure they will look stunning once they are in place! ... Here's something a little different for a Monday morning... our Peakmoor sandstone has been used to help form a new fish pass at Limefields Falls Weir near Edinburgh. This great project will help to enhance the biodiversity of the upstream areas of the Harwood Water by providing new access for fish and eels.

Can you help us?

As part of our commitment to our customers, our team have spent the last few months working with teams at Lancaster University on several projects relating to the testing and quality control of natural stone products in the UK.

As part of this research we are looking for feedback from architects, builders and anyone who has or is considering using natural stone in the future on their opinions around what is important to them when selecting natural stone. If you are able to spare a few minutes of your time to let us know your thoughts via the below questionnaire we would really appreciate your help.

forms.office.com/r/8sAFSLTZSn

And don't worry, this questionnaire is completely anonymous and your data won't be used for anything other than the research being carried out by Lancaster University so we promise that you won't be bombarded with marketing calls or emails if you do take part!

Finally, if you would like to learn more about the research we are carrying out or would like to be more involved with our work then we would love to hear from you so please get in touch.

First of all, from everyone at Cumbrian Stone we hope you are well and keeping safe during these highly unusual times. Following the government’s latest announcement and several customer enquires this morning we would like to update our customers as follows:

Ongoing Orders, Collections and Deliveries

Following the government’s announcement on Saturday 31st October, we are writing to reassure our customers that as a manufacturer supplying the construction industry, Cumbrian Stone will continue to produce your orders throughout the up and coming lockdown. We are currently working closely with our supply chain to ensure that any disruptions over the coming weeks are kept to a minimum, and once your order is ready for collection or delivery we will be in touch to arrange this with you. Collections from our site in Penrith are available on an appointment only basis, and we will arrange a suitable time and date for any collections with you once your order is ready for collection.

Should anything change that may impact on your order over the next few weeks we will be back in touch with another update, and we would like to thank you for your patience and continued understanding during these unprecedented circumstances.

New Enquiries

Unfortunately, due to the new restrictions being brought in by the government we have taken the decision to close our showroom from Thursday 5th November until further notice. Our team are still hard at work behind the scenes and are more than happy to deal with any new enquires by phone and email. Please get in touch via sales@cumbrianstone.co.uk or call us on 01768 867867 with any new enquires. Please note that we are currently quoting a lead time of around 10 working weeks from the point of order and due to our current workload we are unable to fit in any new orders before the two week Christmas shutdown.

It's great to see a new project start to take shape, and our team are hard at work cutting our St Bees sandstone for the stunning new development at Chester Road, Manchester. The first few loads of finished stone have already been delivered to site, and with over 1000m2 (250 tons) of finished material required we are looking forward to keeping an eye on this project as it develops.

Chester Road is a high quality development within the historic Castlefield area of Manchester City Centre. The scheme provides 188 apartments across two buildings along with 3 levels of basement car parking providing 166 car parking spaces.
