The customer journey at Cumbrian Stone usually starts right here on our website, where we (hopefully) provide ideas and inspiration for your next natural stone project. But if you want a more hands-on approach to selecting your stone you may wonder whether a visit to our manufacturing premises may be worthwhile.

Unlike most quarries there’s no need to bring your wellies and we always encourage our customers to call in and meet our team at our manufacturing facilities in Penrith. At Cumbrian Stone we appreciate that it can be difficult to envisage how your project will look and feel from photographs alone, which is why we have invested in a state of the art showroom where you can see (and feel) a selection of our finished products ranging from walling stone and window surrounds through to bespoke carved features.

Across from our showroom we have our manufacturing facilities. This is where our team slab, cut and carve each and every stone our customers order. We pride ourselves in keeping the entire process under one roof, and every day several wagon loads of raw sandstone blocks are brought in from several local quarries; these blocks range from 2-3 tons up to around 10 tons or more.

Each block is cut into slabs on our primary saws before being cut down further on our smaller secondary saws. These sawn blocks are then ready for finishing by our masons. From intricate hand carved work through to profiled moulds and carving using our state of the art CNC Saw and lathe we always ensure that each and every stone that we produce is of the highest quality.

Unfortunately we can’t allow members of the public into our manufacturing facility, however you can take a look at the following video to learn a bit more about the manufacturing process and how we work here at Cumbrian Stone.
